COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today at 2:00 p.m.—a funeral ceremony at Fargo National Cemetery will honor Marine veteran Rickey Allen Boyd, who served from 1977 to 1980 and died at age 66 in December. United Patriotic Bodies and Fargo Memorial Honor Guard organized the service to ensure veterans with no known family are remembered.  WDAY Radio
  • AM 1100’s Need to Know Morning Show with Kevin — Alex will start its annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway on Monday, Dec. 8 with daily prize drawings during the 6 to 8:30 a.m. broadcast. CULTURE NEWS

  • Nate Bargatze will return to Fargo on Thursday, April 23 at FARGODOME as part of his Big Dumb Eyes World Tour next year. The top-ranked comedian will perform new material during 114 shows, with additional stops in Bismarck, Sioux Falls and Rochester.  KVRR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Xcel Energy cut its proposed electricity rate increase for North Dakota after a Public Service Commission hearing in Bismarck reviewed 165 public comments, reducing the residential rate increase to 12.92 percent from over 24 percent and overall rates to 10.37 percent. The compromise, which aimed to address high inflation and fund upgrades like a new Grand Forks service center, was set for a commission vote in January.  KVRR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A guide for NDSU students has been released to list key experiences to complete before graduation—activities include cheering at athletic events, snapping seasonal photos, and exploring both campus landmarks and local Fargo sites. The list is designed to help students fully engage with campus life and local traditions before crossing the commencement stage.  NDSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Harwood saw the Cass County Road 81 crossing reopen on December 2; work to remove the bypass lanes and continue excavation of the diversion channel had been ongoing since 2023 alongside Interstate 29 and railroad bridges — the 410-foot bridge remains a key part of the project.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • North Dakota is on track to provide 100% high-speed internet access statewide by 2028 using $6 million in federal funds to help local carriers connect the final 279 unserved sites — the rollout may finish sooner depending on construction timelines.  KVRR
  • The Cass County Road 81 crossing in Harwood reopened on December 2 at 7:39 a.m. after construction had been underway since 2023 along I-29 and the railroad bridges. +Work will continue to remove bypass lanes and excavate the diversion channel along the 410-foot bridge+.  WDAY Radio
