- ➤ Ziggi’s Coffee has opened its first North Dakota location along 52nd Avenue South—run by a husband and wife team who will donate 20% of sales to the Fill the Dome fundraiser benefiting the Great Plains Food Bank, which starts today. KVRR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota schools were not changed by new federal rules, as Superintendent Kirsten Baesler said Tuesday that the funding, protections, and practices remained the same. She retired at 8 a.m. Monday morning — then took a new job as assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education with the U.S. Department of Education. WDAY Radio
- ➤ North Dakota’s schools will not change after Tuesday’s federal education updates, with State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler saying federal funding, protections, and accountability remain in place. Baesler will retire at 8 a.m. Monday to take a role as assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education in the Department of Education—no school programs or services will be affected. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tribal partners and NDSU researchers developed BisonGuard—an AI and robotics system that tracks bison with virtual fencing and upholds indigenous traditions. The project completed its initial phase with community input and will expand its capabilities to include health assessments and behavior tracking to support sustainable herd management. NDSU
- ➤ North Dakota Game and Fish Department is monitoring sick and dead birds across the state—tests have confirmed that Avian Influenza is affecting snow geese and other waterfowl during fall migration. The department advises anyone removing bird carcasses to wear disposable gloves and wash their hands and clothes. KVRR
