EDUCATION NEWS

  • NDSU will celebrate International Education Week from Nov. 17—19 with events that let students and staff explore world cultures and share international stories. The week will include coffee tasting, cookie decorating, and a free screening of the film Minari with global menus offered in dining centers.  NDSU
  • The Fargo Public School Board narrowed the options for the new elementary school to five finalists—Prairie Rose, Horace Mann, North Star, Martin Luther King Jr., and Unity Elementary—and will choose the final name at its Nov. 25 meeting. Residents shared mixed opinions on naming the school after a person, leading board members to favor a less controversial option.  WDAY Radio
  • NDSU’s early entry program lets high school students take college courses online and in-person — allowing them to stay in high school while learning new skills. Caleb Nissen of Fargo South said the program helped him build a plan for early graduation and prepare for a nursing career.  NDSU
  • North Dakota State University was named a College of Distinction for 2025-26. Staff said the honor recognizes progress in career development and educational opportunities for military personnel—adding to the list of North Dakota schools that have received the award.  KVRR
  • The Fargo Public School Board narrowed naming choices for its new elementary school to five finalists (Prairie Rose, Horace Mann, North Star, Martin Luther King Jr., and Unity Elementary) from 29 candidates and will choose the final name on November 25. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers at NDSU are using AI to study how soil, crops, water and energy work together to help farmers get fast, clear advice from field data. The FEWS project uses smart sensors and computer models + image analysis to boost soil health and improve crop management.  NDSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Dakota School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler will leave her role on November 24 to become the Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education for the U.S. Department of Education—she was confirmed by the Senate last month after serving 13 years in the role.  KVRR

  • Jace Denman interviewed Dragon Heart Player of the Week Micah Runion, who recapped the Jamestown win + explained how he is growing into a leader on the team + shared key insights on his evolving role.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • James McCarty talked with MSUM Football running back Tyson Brandt, who recapped the strong running game against Jamestown and said the team will work to improve for the upcoming game in Mankato.
