EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Moorhead approved a 10-year operating levy and capital projects levy on Tuesday that will add $5.87 million annually to support the school district’s budget and help avoid steep cuts. Superintendent Dr. Lunak said the decision restores financial stability + renews hope for local schools. AM 1100 The Flag
- ➤ Fargo officer Andrew Dotas—who survived a deadly ambush in July 2023—began his new role as the school resource officer at Davies High School, where he focuses on building trust with students. He returned to work in February and now strives to ensure that students feel safe and supported. WDAY Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fargo Public Library is cutting services starting in January by requiring most non-Fargo residents to pay a $60 fee for a library card (West Fargo and Lake Agassiz libraries will remain free under a reciprocal borrowing agreement). Director Tim Dirks said the cuts, which include reduced electronic resources, were necessary to meet the system’s 2026 budget of over $240,000. WDAY Radio

- ➤ North Dakota hospitals saw an increase in respiratory illnesses as more children were diagnosed with RSV and the flu, leading to more clinic visits and some hospital stays. Doctors advised parents to talk with their pediatrician about RSV and flu vaccines before cases peak this winter. WDAY Radio

- ➤ Jackson Williams of NDSU was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week after his 100-yard kick return for a touchdown helped the Bison edge Youngstown State 38-30—he now averages 31.3 yards per kick return and will travel to Grand Forks on Saturday to face North Dakota. - ➤ The Dragons ended a five-game losing streak with a 49-21 win over Bemidji State, earning quarterback Jack Strand his second NSIC Offensive Player of the Week honor—his seven touchdown passes tied the conference record while McKale Pierson was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording two interceptions and five tackles.
