Good morning, Fargo.
The NDSU Extension program expanded its Aging in Community project on July 1 by adding 10 counties to its two pilot programs to help older adults remain in rural areas—program staff and volunteers provide support such as transportation, fall prevention, and nutrition classes while area coordinators work with local leaders to address unique community needs.
Food pantries in Fargo are preparing for more people after many families did not receive SNAP benefits this past weekend; Emergency Food Pantry is now offering a second basket (available to families who received one in October) as it has seen more visitors compared to last year.
NDSU School of Design will install a new Bailey Model C20 soda kiln to replace its 15-year-old, unsafe kiln, funded by a $30,000 Impact Fund Grant and support from an anonymous donor (the upgrade will help a ceramics program that now serves 75 undergraduates and 20 graduates each semester). The new kiln will be energy-efficient and more accessible, allowing both students and faculty to continue their work with improved atmospheric firing techniques.

The Fargo Public Library announced major service cuts set to begin January 2026—reducing funding for electronic databases by cutting over $110,000 from its book budget and reintroducing a $60 fee for non-residents—while still offering free borrowing for residents through existing agreements with West Fargo and Lake Agassiz libraries.
