- ➤ The Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce launched its Civic Engagement Center website during a ceremony on Wednesday to increase community involvement and help shape new local leaders. - ➤ Kevin O’Leary, the Shark Tank star, met with North Dakota leaders while he managed a $45 million fund to help small businesses in the state—his meeting showed that North Dakota has low red tape and plenty of open land that can spark more growth. His team at O’Leary Ventures said the state is like a blank canvas with natural resources and simple rules that will boost future investments—details that could lead to more interest soon. - ➤ Students in NDSU's COMM 313 class get hands-on newsroom experience by writing, editing, and working in teams to produce content for Spectrum—focusing on real-life skills like reporting, photography, and social media. The course teaches students to meet deadlines and collaborate effectively—helping prepare them for future journalism careers. NDSU
- ➤ North Dakota State University and Dickinson State University signed an agreement today at the North Dakota Pharmacists Association Concept Pharmacy to create two new academic pathways—a three-year traditional pre-pharmacy option and a two-year Early Admission Pathway—for DSU students to enter the NDSU Doctor of Pharmacy program. The program will launch next spring and deliver select courses online (via HyFlex format) to help fill local pharmacist workforce gaps. NDSU

- ➤ Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring urged caution when the Bank of North Dakota began developing the Roughrider coin—the state’s first stablecoin—at a meeting on Oct. 27. He requested monthly updates—citing many questions—and state officials are slowly exploring new digital banking ways. KVRR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Furloughed federal workers have received nearly $1 million in emergency relief loans from North Dakota banks since the shutdown began, with the Bank of North Dakota and Gate City Bank launching programs to help workers cover missed paychecks—applications numbered 77 for the state program and 121 for the bank program as of October 27. - ➤ Fargo’s 911 dispatchers moved to the new Red River Regional Dispatch Center on 45th Street North that features advanced technology—designed to eventually let dispatchers receive pictures and video for better location info. The center now has 12 consoles while eight in the old building support large incidents and coordinate calls from Cass and Clay counties. WDAY Radio

- ➤ The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation asked the ND Legislature for a Medicare and Medicaid waiver so its Good Road Recovery Center in Bismarck could treat more than 16 patients at once — outdated federal rules force tribes to send members out of state at higher cost. Sen. Tim Mathern from Fargo began drafting a bill that will be discussed at the next State and Tribal Relations Committee meeting. KVRR
