COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Fargo’s water tower, painted blue—psychedelic orange, was named Tank of the Year by Tnemec Company Inc. after beating more than 300 competitors from the US and Canada. It replaced three aging towers and holds 2.5 million gallons of water.  KVRR
  • Today, the Fargo Exotic Pet Expo runs from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. and will feature an expanded lineup of vendors, exotic animals and educational talks for pet enthusiasts—restoring its legacy from its start as the Fargo Frag Swap in 2013. Presentations include one by Kathleen 'The Bugman’s Daughter' and another by the Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue and Education to teach proper exotic pet care.  WDAY Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Oct. 24th, NDSU dedicated and blessed the Grandmother Earth’s Gift of Life Garden at the campus Horticultural Gardens + Memorial Wall, honoring Indigenous traditions and memorializing late Jaclynn Davis-Wallette. The garden features plants representing the four colors of the medicine wheel and was created through years of collaboration to serve as a living classroom and gathering space.  NDSU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Friday at Osgood Elementary, students took part in a read-a-thon where local personalities including KVRR’s Alison Vorhees, Emily Welker, Ryan Bowlin, and Max Mueller read sections from books like Charlotte’s Web. The school fundraiser reached about $10,000 toward its $30,000 goal — additional readers from groups such as local scientists, coaches, and a state representative also joined to boost the event.  KVRR
  • NDSU has launched a new graphic design program that teaches skills in digital media, typography, and drawing. The program offers hands-on projects, interdisciplinary classes, and real-world experiences at downtown Fargo’s state-of-the-art facilities.  NDSU
