COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome will host two holiday concerts called Have Yourself a Funky Little Christmas on December 19th and December 20th at Sanctuary Events Center in Fargo + tickets go on sale this Thursday at 10 a.m. + reserved seating starts at $33.  KVRR
  • The Moorhead nonprofit A Place For Hope received a $10,000 gift from Gate City Bank — the donation will help pay a new $600 fee on food deliveries and launch a $50,000 fundraiser to support more local families. The fundraiser will run through the end of the year to expand operating hours and cover delivery charges as food costs keep rising.  AM 1100 The Flag

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Eddie Hollerung suffered third-degree burns during an October 11 fire when he repeatedly entered his burning home to try rescuing his therapy dog — Lily, who died the next day — and the incident forced his family to relocate.  WDAY Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • An application has been submitted for a new Taco John’s at 2253 University Drive S near Midtown Market (the site of a former Burger King), marking the chain’s planned return to Fargo for the first time since 2023. A separate application is pending for another location near the Anderson softball complex at 4522 26th Avenue S.  AM 1100 The Flag

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Kelly Armstrong announced from the State Capitol that Levi Bachmeier—the business manager for West Fargo Public Schools since 2019 and former policy adviser—will serve as interim leader of ND schools after Kirsten Baesler was confirmed as assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education on Oct 7; voters will choose her replacement in November.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • Governor Armstrong announced Tuesday at the State Capitol that Levi Bachmeier, West Fargo Public Schools business manager since 2019 + former education adviser, will serve as the interim leader of ND schools after Kirsten Baesler’s confirmation as assistant secretary for elementary and secondary education.   • North Dakota Health and Human Services warned that SNAP benefits may be paused beginning Nov. 1 if the federal shutdown continues past Oct. 31 — officials await further federal guidance to update recipients on when benefits will resume.  WDAY Radio
