CULTURE NEWS

  • Fargo’s biggest arts and crafts fair, The Big One Art & Craft Fair, is in its 37th year and will continue tomorrow at the Fargodome with over 320 booths showcasing handmade items from local artisans—supporting small businesses. The event started fifty years ago in Minot and attracts thousands from across the state.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MATBUS is offering a free week of bus fares on all fixed routes from Monday, October 20th through Friday, October 25th, excluding MAT Paratransit, to allow Fargo riders to try its service. Special promotions include a free self-serve hot cider station on Oct. 22 and free popcorn with bottled water on Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ground Transportation Center along NP Avenue—part of Try MATBUS Week.  WDAY Radio
  • The North Dakota Department of Commerce awarded grants to Fargo sites to improve local entertainment—over $600,000 will fund a new grandstand at the fairgrounds while $250,000 will upgrade the zoo’s red panda habitat. The awards are among 23 state-issued grants aimed at boosting tourism.  KVRR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fargo Cass Public Health is hosting walk-in flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics to protect community members — the next clinic will be held on October 31 from 7:30 to 12:30.  KVRR

SPORTS NEWS

  • James McCarty interviewed NDSU Football defensive lineman Keenan Wilson on October 17, and Wilson said his improved play on the Code Green defense increased his role and impact on the team (the interview was conducted at 10:03 a.m.).  WDAY Radio
  • NDUS Bison wide receiver Bryce Lance recapped the win over Southern Illinois and looked ahead to a tough MVFC schedule in an interview with James McCarty yesterday—his comments show the team is gearing up for challenging games ahead.  WDAY Radio
  • On October 16, North Dakota high school football action featured West Fargo Sheyenne beating Shanley 49-28 and Fargo South edging GF Red River 20-14; other games ended with final scores as teams like CENTURY, Minot North and New Rockford-S/M secured wins — marking a busy Thursday night schedule in the state.  KVRR
