COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Boo at the Zoo returns today at the Red River Zoo and will run for three consecutive weekends—offering kids a chance to dress up, trick or treat, ride a carousel and meet animals from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 11, 18 and 25.  WDAY Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pentex Restaurant Group submitted an application to reopen Taco John’s at 4522 26th Avenue S and is planning to invest $600,000 + remodel the building by replacing tile, fixtures, kitchen equipment and dining room furniture. All Taco John’s locations in Fargo-Moorhead closed in 2023.  WDAY Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Red River Theatre Organ Society is raising $500,000 to repair its nearly 99-year-old Mighty Wurlitzer organ at Fargo Theatre—this work includes shipping and rebuilding parts to restore the sound for future movies. The society, which saved the theater from demolition in the past, will host its first Mighty Wurlitzer Gala on November 8.  KVRR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fargo Public Schools invites local residents to submit name ideas for a new elementary school at the old Horace Mann site on 3rd Street North. Submissions opened on October 10 and will be accepted until 4 p.m. October 24 while the board will choose five favorites on November 12 and a finalist on November 25; the school is set to open Fall 2028.  AM 1100 The Flag

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • One lane reopened each way on First Avenue North in Moorhead at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10 during the 11th Street underpass project, and crews are still working on boulevards, sidewalks, and traffic signals while drivers cannot turn onto 10th, 11th or 12th Streets—final pavement work is in progress.  WDAY Radio
  • Cass County government workers completed the 'Stop the Threat, Stop the Bleed' training that taught them life-saving skills for active shooter and severe weather emergencies. Over 200 employees learned to find cover, hide, and exit buildings safely during eight sessions + the sheriff’s office and emergency management led the course.  WDAY Radio

  • Banana Ball will take place at Newman Outdoor Field in 2026 when the Firefighters face the Indianapolis Clowns on June 26 and 27—fans can sign up for a ticket lottery by October 31.  KVRR
  • MSUM Football head coach Steve Laqua spoke with Jace Denman after last weekend's overtime win over Minot State—he also previewed the upcoming Battle for the Paddle.  WDAY Radio
