- ➤ The Red River Zoo will host Boo at the Zoo this month where visitors can see hissing cockroaches and an albino tiger salamander called Sausage — a species that helps indicate local environmental health. A new sensory area called Blue Boo will allow guests with sensitivities to enjoy animal encounters safely. KVRR
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Chevron laid off 111 oil workers—63 in Minot and 48 in Tioga—beginning Sept.26 after completing its merger with Hess on July 18, a greater impact than first expected. The company said it is offering severance benefits and outplacement support as part of industry consolidation amid low oil prices. KVRR

- ➤ This week, over 300 Fargo Public Schools third graders walked downtown to learn about local history by visiting sites like the Great Northern Bicycle Company, Black Building, and Hotel Donaldson—an event that has been part of their social studies class for over a decade. Fargo Theatre helped show the city's growth, and the next tour is set for May. KVRR

- ➤ The Bank of North Dakota announced Wednesday plans to launch its Roughrider coin, the state’s first stablecoin designed to speed bank-to-bank transfers, with a pilot test scheduled in 2026 — the digital currency is being developed with Fiserv to help local banks stay competitive and may lower processing fees for merchants in the future. - ➤ The North Dakota Industrial Commission announced a short-term, low-interest loan program for furloughed federal employees and active duty military stationed in ND amid the federal government shutdown—FFERP offers loans at 2% interest for up to three months to cover base net pay.
