- ➤ Community Action Partnership of N.D. received nearly $2 million to help veterans who are homeless or at risk and will use the funds during the 2026 fiscal year to support its seven statewide offices in Fargo, Grand Forks and Jamestown by providing healthcare, financial planning, housing counseling and transportation. - ➤ Fargo Anime is hosting its annual convention this weekend—featuring vendor stalls, cosplay, table top games, an arcade, and a silent auction that supports Fargo River Keepers. Guest speakers and a kids event with a Pokémon theme and a custom whale piñata on Sunday add extra fun. KVRR

- ➤ Frannie Tunseth of Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg was named North Dakota Teacher of the Year at a ceremony at the Capitol on September 26 and will begin her role on Jan. 1 (she teaches grades four through eight and was honored as Griggs County Teacher of the Year in 2022). - ➤ NDSU held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the remodeled music building—now called Challey Hall—yesterday on Bolley Drive in Fargo as a large crowd gathered while the band played the school’s anthem. Officials noted that the year-long renovation was completed on time and under budget, marking a new era for the sciences of music. KVRR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Fargo City Commission will meet on September 29 to discuss delaying the plan to turn the mayor’s job into a full-time role. The panel had earlier voted to study the idea before the 2026 mayoral election (Mayor Tim Mahoney, who leaves office next year, supported the change and adding up to two more commissioners was also on the table). - ➤ City leaders in downtown Fargo are reviewing the 2025 Downtown Parking Study and considering reducing free parking so that more on-street spots are available for short visits—supporting local businesses. Recommendations will be presented to City Commissioners by October, and the city plans to hire a full-time parking manager and select a new vendor by January. KVRR
