ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A train derailment in Dilworth occurred Wednesday night when 14 rail cars derailed including a fuel oil tank car that was not compromised—main track 2 reopened this morning as investigators continue to examine the cause. AM 1100 The Flag
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ State regulators approved a permit today for Riverview ND, LLP’s 25,000-head dairy farm near Hillsboro in Traill County—21,250 head will be milking cows and 3,750 head will be dry cows with any future changes reviewed by the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality. AM 1100 The Flag
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota's universities recorded near-record enrollment this fall with 47,552 students across 11 campuses—a nearly 4 percent increase over last year that falls just short of the 2011 record. - ➤ NDSU Libraries will celebrate its 75th anniversary on Monday, Oct. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. as students, staff, faculty and community members attend an Open House to tour the Main Library and NDSU Archives — with remarks by President David Cook, live music, light refreshments and free parking. - ➤ Travelers on I-94 will see changes today as the westbound passing lane near mile marker 342 reopens with traffic moving from the bypass lane to a new permanent alignment—speed limits will be lower and lane widths restricted. - ➤ Today, the Fargo Convention Center Committee meets at 1 p.m. at City Hall’s Commission Chambers to decide whether projects will advance to phase two for a new convention center and adjacent private development — nine proposals were submitted by local developers to form a public—private partnership. - ➤ Harwood’s mayor Blake Hankey said that worries over water use, noise, and power costs for a new $3 billion artificial intelligence data center being built by Applied Digital are few (most opposition comes from Fargo and college students from Moorhead).
