BUSINESS NEWS

  • Wingstop will return to FM Metro at 2301 South University Drive on the former Kmart site as the strip mall is being remodeled with new fixtures, equipment, electrical and plumbing work—an opening date has not yet been announced. A Wingstop at a different Fargo location closed in 2019.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials said North Dakota National Guard troops have not been asked to support local or federal law enforcement operations. About 1,000 Guard members trained last weekend—there are no current plans to deploy them for domestic missions.  KVRR
  • Fargo City Commission held a hearing on the $140M budget while residents raised concerns about a 33% cut to MATBUS—final approval is scheduled for September 29.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who is also interim NASA administrator, will speak at the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Summit on October 14 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks—an event marking its 19th year and highlighting North Dakota’s role in unmanned technology. Senator Kevin Cramer announced his addition to the summit, emphasizing the growth of the industry in the state.  WDAY Radio
  • Today, the North Dakota Department of Health is asking for public feedback on expanding Medicaid access for community-based services—including host homes for young people with developmental disabilities. Officials say the input will help decide which programs to support as Congress's One Big Beautiful Act changes eligibility for other Medicaid recipients effective in 2027.  AM 1100 The Flag

  • Hannah Arnold, a midfielder for NDSU women's soccer, balances rigorous academics with Division I athletics—she earned Summit League honors and now majors in biology with a minor in forensic science while pursuing a potential professional soccer career.  NDSU
  • Today, athletes from Cass County and other cities competed in the Special Olympics, showcasing talent and inclusivity—while organizers raised every needed dollar without state funding. The event gave competitors a chance to build friendships and prepare for nationals.  AM 1100 The Flag
