COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Customers at Hornbacher's in Fargo joined a lunch event held from 11 to 1 where a minimum $10 donation earned them a Jennie-O turkey sandwich with chips, a frozen treat and a beverage. The event, which started 18 years ago, will support United Way programs to reduce hunger and homelessness. KVRR
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ GP's Greek Kitchen in south Fargo will close on Saturday — fans have until then to enjoy its fresh Mediterranean food. The restaurant, which opened in 2018, did not provide a reason for its closure — leaving loyal diners with fewer chances to enjoy its generous portions. KVRR
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Cass County Sheriff’s Office in Fargo has been cracking down on people with outstanding warrants using a new jail pod to hold arrestees. Sheriff Jahner said that since late July the office issued 14 bench warrants and received 11 more referrals from Fargo Municipal Court — though 2,025 active misdemeanor warrants still remain. - ➤ The Cass County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for people with outstanding warrants—Sheriff Jahner said his team is using a new jail pod and available resources to keep our community safe and has already had some individuals turn themselves in. AM 1100 The Flag

- ➤ NDSU President David Cook announced plans for an Honors College in artificial intelligence and six new Distinguished Professors during his State of the University Address on Sept. 9—marking a new direction for campus programs—and detailed future investments in engineering, health and agriculture that will launch innovative degree programs and offer full-ride scholarships to 30 students each year beginning in fall 2026. - ➤ Cass County Commissioner Joel Vettel said he might run for Fargo mayor this fall while weighing his family, work at Sanford Health, and his time on the county commission. He noted that October could be a turning point—he plans to address public safety and government transparency if elected. WDAY Radio
- ➤ At a hearing on Sept. 4, housing officials said that homelessness in North Dakota is rising as growing populations and high housing costs leave many without stable shelter—Fargo-Moorhead shelters report heavy use. Lawmakers and housing agencies will meet again to study the crisis and work on solutions to help prevent further hardship. KVRR

- ➤ A week into Suicide Awareness Month, Dr. Alexandra Kohlhase of Essentia Health told listeners on the Morning Show that unwanted, intrusive thoughts—such as a sudden idea of swerving into traffic—are common and not a sign of suicidal intent. KVRR
