BUSINESS NEWS

  • A permit—filed with the City of Fargo—shows a new building planned at 2301 55th Street South to house a third Chick-fil-A location just south of Sanford Medical Center. The building will include a drive-thru with free-standing non-combustible order and meal delivery canopies and is projected to cost $850,000, with construction expected to begin soon if approved.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fargo City Commission approved a plan to remove a dangerous apartment building in south Fargo after a July 7 fire and a SWAT raid led to safety concerns—if owners do not remove it, the city will act in October.  KVRR
  • Commissioners received an update from the Communications Department Tuesday night after four top officials resigned, which led to tension between Commissioner Michelle Turnberg and Mayor Tim Mahoney. Turnberg criticized spending $30,000 on an external investigator, while Deputy Mayor Denise Kolpack and Commissioner John Strand supported the remaining staff plus planned to restore morale as the city works to fill the vacancies.  WDAY Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • NDSU’s Counseling Center, President’s Council for Wellbeing and the Green Bandana Project will host Suicide Prevention Week from Sept. 15 to Sept. 21 with workshops, training sessions, an open house and the Out of the Darkness Walk to reduce stigma and promote mental health on campus. The events include QPR Training and self-care sessions — vital activities planned to provide support to students, faculty and staff.  NDSU

  • Big Game James McCarty talked with NDSU LB Nate Staehling on September 3 about his first collegiate start and how the defense shut out The Citadel—Staehling said learning from former linebackers and asking questions helped his growth.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • NDSU redshirt freshman WR Isiah St. Romain discussed his first collegiate touchdown reception—citing advice from experienced teammates that prepared him for game day—during an interview with James McCarty on September 3rd.  WDAY Radio
  • Big Game James McCarty + NDSU LB Nate Staehling talked about his first time starting and how the team held The Citadel scoreless during the game.  WDAY Radio
  • On Wednesday night, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks won a 1-0 series opener against the Kansas City Monarchs with a two-hit shutout as Kyle Krigger pitched seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Lamar Sparks drove in the only run and the team now leads the best-of-three series — Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at 6:35 p.m. in Kansas City.  AM 1100 The Flag
