COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 4 Luv of Dog hosted a dog adoption event today at the Natural Pet Center (13th Ave S.) in western Fargo as pet lovers quickly adopted one puppy and processed an application for another. The organization said its next event, Pounders & Paws, will be held on September 3 at Unhynged Sports Bar in West Fargo.  KVRR
  • At West Acres Mall, the Great Maze will use cedar panels instead of straw to create a more sustainable and intricate layout — maze owners said the cedar will last between 20 and 30 years while the new design uses two inch panels for added challenge. The maze will be open through November 6 and will feature an upgraded corn pit with a tent for shade and seating as Guinness World Records officials set to certify its size on September 16.  KVRR

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcycle driven by a 64-year-old Fargo man collided with a sign on westbound Highway 10 near 225th Street North in Hawley on Sunday, injuring him and his juvenile passenger who were taken to Essentia Hospital in Fargo—the state patrol, Hawley Police, Fire and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • On Sunday afternoon two Fargo residents were injured in a crash on Highway 59 at milepost 249 in Dunn Township—one 28-year-old man was taken to Sanford Hospital and one 28-year-old woman was taken to Essentia Health—while the pickup driver remained unharmed.  WDAY Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fix-it-Forward will open a new auto repair location on University Drive at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. The business—its fifth location—will serve residents on the east side of the interstate who previously had to drive farther for repairs.  KVRR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On August 19, the Red River Zoo brought in two critically endangered pied tamarins, Noah and Peanut Butter, which are in quarantine at the Discovery Barn and drawing visitors in. Zoo staff said the monkeys will later move near the entrance to join other species as part of a conservation program — a sign of the zoo's commitment to preserving rare animals.  KVRR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Fargo City Hall is lit purple this evening to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day and remember those lost to overdose—showing the city's support for prevention and kindness.  KVRR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks lost to the Sioux Falls Canaries 8-2 in Sioux Falls as Angelo Cabral gave up 6 runs, 4 of which were earned in 4 and two-thirds innings—Colten Davis allowed 2 runs while relief pitchers held the game scoreless and Jose Sermo hit a solo home run that drove in both runs. The teams will wrap up the season Monday at 11:05 a.m.  WDAY Radio
  • On August 29, local high schools held North Dakota’s first outdoor swim meet at Island Park Pool with a triangular contest among Fargo North, Fargo South, and Grand Forks, and a rain delay pushed the start from 5 p.m. to about 6:45 p.m.—coaches said they had planned the meet for nearly a year and will make it an annual event.  KVRR
