- ➤ West Fargo High School went on lockdown on August 29 after an unidentified individual was spotted on campus—security said the person fled after being confronted and classes resumed normally. KVRR
- ➤ Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said scam artists are calling family members of those in the Cass County Jail pretending to be deputies and asking for cash or money order for pre-trial release—families are urged to hang up immediately. AM 1100 The Flag
- ➤ On Friday, Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner reported that scam artists targeted family members of inmates at the Cass County Jail by impersonating deputies and using spoofed phone numbers to request payment for pre-trial release — he warned that no deputy will call to ask for money. WDAY Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NDSU has planned Homecoming events for Sept. 22—27 that will bring students, alumni and community members together for a kickoff, service projects, sporting matches and a parade across campus venues. The schedule lists activities held at sites like Churchill Field and the Fargodome with set times for each event. NDSU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney said Applied Digital Corporation first approached Fargo to build a multi-billion-dollar AI data center but later switched its plans to Harwood over fees and service concerns. Harwood Mayor Blake Hankey said Fargo should stay out of it as Fargo now seeks to annex land near Harwood while the Dallas-based firm, planning Polaris Forge 2 to start this fall, said it would fight the annexation. - ➤ The North Dakota Supreme Court sent the case back to a lower court so the state can reconsider a law that forces most landowners to allow CO2 storage under their land, a ruling that clears a key procedural block for the Northwest Landowners Association—raising concerns about fair compensation. The decision could impact future carbon projects in the state. KVRR

- ➤ Fargo Cass Public Health and the Harm Reduction Center helped over 450 people avoid fatal overdoses in the past year while 34 people died, and the center honored those lost by unveiling a mural with a painted butterfly and 34 purple flags—Fargo City Hall will light up purple on Sunday for International Overdose Awareness Day. - ➤ Fargo-Cass Public Health is loaning fake ID scanners to local liquor establishments for $5,300 over five years to help curb underage drinking—this move follows a report showing a 20.7 percent underage drinking rate among 12 to 20 year olds that exceeds the national average.
