- ➤ Early Thursday, Fargo Fire crews responded to an apartment on the 500 block of 3rd Avenue North after a call came in at about 1:49 a.m.—smoke and fire from a stove were quickly contained with no injuries and damage estimated under $2,000. WDAY Radio

- ➤ Wes Cummins of Applied Digital said his company will build a new data center just north of Fargo that is expected to reach partial capacity in 2026—he said the project is designed to use grid power safely while addressing concerns raised by Harwood residents. AM 1100 The Flag

- ➤ A Fargo man, Katterrius Oates, was sentenced on August 28 for sexually assaulting a minor after investigators reviewed cell phone messages and photos showing he knew the girl was 15, and a plea deal cuts his sentence to a little over 9.5 years in prison plus 3 years of probation—canceling a trial set for September 3. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NDSU has been awarded nearly $4 million by the National Science Foundation to deploy a supercomputer named Bison for AI research — the system will be housed at the Center for Computationally Assisted Science and Technology and is expected to start operations in summer 2026 to boost research across campuses and tribal colleges. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fargo officials voted on Aug. 4 to start annexing land near Harwood—land that is in Harwood’s zoning jurisdiction—for a proposed $3 billion Applied Digital data center, and the process, which includes hearings and owner notices, may take until November. The company may break ground next month and plans to add at least 200 jobs with an average pay of $64,000 a year. KVRR
