CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fargo police are investigating a potential threat against a school or shopping center received early on August 27th—no specific location or suspect has been identified as security around schools was increased with the start of the new academic year. WDAY Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota State University reported an early fall enrollment of 11,954 students, with gains among first-time freshmen, transfer, and graduate students as well as increases in online and international enrollments. The school will open the new Offerdahl Complex— a $100 million facility— in fall 2026 to boost engineering and hands-on learning. NDSU
- ➤ On August 27, traffic picked up near Roosevelt Elementary as extra police patrols worked to keep drivers safe—Fargo Public Schools also marked the final first day at Horace Mann Elementary before moving its students to Madison, Roosevelt, or Washington Elementary in 2026. The district plans to finish a new school on the Horace Mann site by 2028 while Superintendent Dr. Cory Steiner prepares for a strong 2025-26 school year. KVRR

- ➤ U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said today that North Dakota is ready to lead artificial intelligence development—he explained that resources like coal and oil can be transformed into electricity and then into intelligence. - ➤ The Fargo City Commission approved a three-year contract with Cass County for housing inmates in its jail — the contract raises the daily cost from $35 to $120 starting January 1 and adds safety measures like panic buttons and radios for Fargo police staff.
