- ➤ Fargo police identified a 55 year old local man, John Matthew Pilcher, who was killed in an attack on the 300 block of Broadway on August 3 when a 19 year old man, Tabias Jamal Walker, allegedly used a skateboard to strike him (Walker was arrested in Moorhead and is held on a $75,000 bond). - ➤ A Fargo man faced a felony assault charge on August 14 after he allegedly beat a man with a folding lawn chair outside New Life Shelter, police said—he is also wanted on theft and simple assault charges. AM 1100 The Flag
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Between June 19 and 22, 2025, a tornado outbreak paired with derecho conditions damaged over 400,000 acres of crops—costing more than $24 million, with soybeans losing $13.5 million and corn and dry beans also hit hard. NDSU Extension gathered damage reports and partnered with federal and state agencies to help affected producers and monitor livestock losses including cattle, goats, and pheasants. KVRR

- ➤ Fargo city officials declared the apartment building at 1202 1st Avenue S dangerous after a July 7 fire and a June SWAT call caused serious damage—cracking walls, broken windows, and a tampered electrical meter; officials are talking with the owner and insurance to decide if repairs can be made or the building must be torn down at a Sept. 1 public hearing. - ➤ At a County Commission meeting Wednesday, members agreed to vote next session on adding a termination clause to Fargo’s jail housing contract as they remain divided over fee hikes and storage for inmate property—County Sheriff Jesse Jahner said the jail cannot store hazardous items like explosives or guns.
