- ➤ Austin Lester from Tokio was sentenced to 33 years for the 2022 death of a three-year-old on Spirit Lake Reservation & his co-defendant Krissy Hinsley, previously sentenced to 10 years, is ordered to pay $62,553.39 in restitution. KVRR
- ➤ On Tuesday, Fargo Police arrested 20-year-old Caundre Douglas in Jamestown for his alleged connection to the deadly shooting of Elijah Hughes on August 3rd along the 4700 block of 16th Avenue South — he is also linked to shootings on July 6th and 22nd — while authorities continue searching for 19-year-old Tyrque Jones wanted in a Broadway shooting that killed one and injured two. - ➤ Residents from the United States and Canada will shake hands across the border at 11 a.m. Saturday at the International Peace Garden near Dunseith (a symbol of lasting friendship), with as many as 1,000 participants from each side expected and tours, a car show and scavenger hunts also planned to ease expected traffic. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A pilot program led by the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives is working to keep rural grocery stores open by forming a joint distribution network and using a $12.6 million investment from the Bush Foundation to lower wholesale prices and reduce food deserts. Six to eight grocery stores near Minot have already joined the effort — and the project will gather data from local grocers and food producers over the next few years to develop a food hub that benefits local supply. - ➤ Fargo Mayor Doctor Tim Mahoney said he plans to meet privately with Police Chief David Zibolski this week—addressing concerns over the chief’s decision to forego a press conference after weekend shootings that killed two and injured two on August 3. - ➤ Hector International Airport’s new four story parking garage has opened with 1,000 parking spaces and uses the first level for drop offs and pickups.
