CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police arrested Dominic Long after he cut a man's arm with a knife outside the Old Broadway on July 27 (shortly after 2:00 a.m.) when officers found multiple weapons on him, including brass knuckles, a knife, and throwing stars, and he is now charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. - ➤ A Fargo man and a Valley City woman were arrested in Cass County jail after deputies stopped their car in Mapleton over the weekend for expired tags and found drugs, and the man (20) fled into a nearby neighborhood (he was later spotted after a tip from residents). KVRR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Red River of the North will be rerouted through the Red River Control Structure on August 7 during a special program at the site near County Road 81 south of Fargo—part of the FM Diversion project that will protect 70 square miles of local infrastructure when complete in 2027. KVRR
- ➤ A new parking ramp at Hector International Airport will open Friday and has four floors with about 1,000 parking spaces. The ramp is part of a $200 million project that began in June 2024 and will include a skywalk and terminal expansion by 2027 — major upgrades to the airport. KVRR
- ➤ Last week, the ND Department of Agriculture awarded a $300,000 grant for a drone project that will use artificial intelligence to detect noxious weeds in five counties—Barnes, Cass, Richland, Steele and Traill—in soybean and sugar beet fields. Grand Farm will lead the effort while landowners are notified before any flyovers occur. KVRR

- ➤ The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks beat the Lincoln Saltdogs 5-4 in a walk-off win on Sunday; Tyler Jandron pitched five innings and relief pitchers Colten Davis and Parker Harm kept the score in check—helping complete the sweep. The team then headed to Winnipeg—where they began a series against the Goldeyes on Monday at 6:30 p.m. WDAY Radio
