- ➤ On Saturday morning, 200 runners and walkers raised money for the local zoo by choosing from routes of 5k, one mile, or half a mile with fees that included zoo admission and a t-shirt. The zoo will host Zoo Brew on August 22—an event for adults with craft beer and live music. KVRR

- ➤ A single vehicle crash on Saturday morning in the 2900 block of Broadway North injured a driver and damaged a power pole (6:41 a.m.), leaving local businesses and traffic signals without power and leading police to cite the driver for careless driving. WDAY Radio

- ➤ On Saturday before noon, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in Mapleton for expired registration and discovered narcotics—when one occupant fled into a residential neighborhood, deputies set up a perimeter and later arrested him and the other occupant, with the man now facing charges for refusal to halt and probation violations and the woman for fictitious registration, no insurance and possession of marijuana.
