- ➤ On July 24, more than 1,500 people gathered at the Night Bazaar in Fargo after 6:10 p.m. to attempt breaking the world record for most s'mores eaten at one time, organized by Folkways and Florida-based Wondermade— which has strong local ties. Verification from Guinness will take weeks as organizers remain hopeful that the record has been broken. KVRR

- ➤ Fargo Police responded to Mid America Steel in the 5100 block of 19th Avenue North shortly after 9:30 a.m. today—an employee was seriously injured and later died after being taken to a local hospital while officials investigate the incident and withhold the worker’s identity pending family notification. - ➤ Fargo Public Library will host a free galactic-themed bowling party for children and teens up to age 18 on Monday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at The Bowler—2630 S. University Drive, where local pro bowler Ted McKinney Jr. will offer tips during a wrap-up for the kids’ Summer Reading Challenge, which continues until August 23. Fargo Underground

- ➤ North Dakota will soon let drivers choose blackout license plates with a solid black background and white lettering for most vehicles, including light trucks and motorcycles, starting next Friday—August 1. Governor Kelly Armstrong signed legislation that directs the revenue from the plates to road improvements. KVRR
- ➤ Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney confirmed that Commissioner Michelle Turnberg was told to speak only with Police Chief David Zibolski about policing issues after concerns were raised about misinformation on police practices. - ➤ A Senate panel recommended confirming Nicholas W. Chase as the next U.S. Attorney for North Dakota after Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer highlighted his 20 years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and his service as a district court judge + his nomination now moves to the full Senate for consideration. - ➤ Fargo mayor Tim Mahoney said commissioner Michelle Turnberg was told to discuss policing matters only with police chief David Zibolski to prevent misinformation over claims of chokehold tactics. - ➤ Fargo property owners renovating homes, apartment buildings or businesses that are 25 years or older can now apply online for a property tax exemption.
