  • Thousands of visitors have headed downtown for the Street Fair that started Thursday July 17 and will run until Saturday July 19. Multiple roads were closed for setup since Wednesday July 16—2,000 parking spots are available in ramps.  AM 1100 The Flag

  • 84 Italian Steakhouse’s burger 'Peach Be With You' won the Downtown Fargo Burger Royale competition—eighteen restaurants competed in a close contest in June with Prairie Kitchen finishing second and Sons of Norway placing third.  KVRR

CRIME NEWS

  • Drafton Eugene Jones, wanted on a nationwide warrant for attempted homicide, was arrested in West Fargo at 12:20 a.m. on July 6 after he assaulted carnival staff and fled in a vehicle that police identified during a traffic stop at the Rodeway Inn parking lot — he now faces charges for firearm possession, providing false information to law enforcement, marijuana possession and an open container.  WDAY Radio
  • A man whose remains were found near Page over 50 years ago was identified as William Howard Tate after a July 1 exhumation at Saint James Cemetery—officials used a denture plate marked Tate W. H and World War II enlistment records and are creating a new headstone with Veteran Services.  AM 1100 The Flag

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Communities across North Dakota are receiving state loans this summer to support clean drinking water projects. Fargo received $40 million to replace aging infrastructure during roadwork — Grand Forks is set to get over $12 million for upgrading water and sanitary systems in the Korynta-Lemm Sixth Subdivision.  WDAY Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Earlier this week, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily froze North Dakota’s 2021 legislative district map while a tribal voting rights lawsuit continues, with plaintiffs alleging the new plan dilutes Native American voters’ power. The state faces a deadline to file a response by July 22—while the plaintiffs plan to petition the Supreme Court by October.  KVRR
