- ➤ Fargo Fire Department answered a call just before 8 a.m. when flames were seen coming from the basement windows of an apartment at 1202 1st Avenue South—crews took about 10 minutes to knock the fire down—and Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson confirmed no injuries. KVRR
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Starting December 20, Delta Air Lines will operate two daily nonstop flights between Fargo and Atlanta—one leaving Hector International Airport at 6:00 a.m. and arriving just after 10:00 a.m., while a second flight will depart Atlanta at 8:15 p.m. and land in Fargo at 10:28 p.m. WDAY Radio
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ At about 9:30 p.m. on July 6, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested 37-year-old Jason Bearking of Fargo when he sped off without headlights on Highway 10 in Riverton Township—his car reached speeds over 100 mph before police used a PIT maneuver to stop it—he now faces charges for drug possession and driving with a revoked license. - ➤ North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said rising farm debt and high operating costs, along with falling crop prices, have left many farmers struggling to break even—about 20% of producers had to borrow this spring. He added that a loan assistance program set up by Governor Armstrong and the Industrial Commission will help rebuild grain storage affected by severe weather, and officials will track the debt issue through October or November. - ➤ Today in West Fargo, 8th Street West and 2nd Avenue West are closed for manhole repairs, forcing northbound traffic to detour to Main Ave West from 3rd Avenue West. Residents on 2nd Avenue still have home access and recycling drop-off via 6th Street West with repairs expected to finish on Friday if the weather holds. AM 1100 The Flag
- ➤ Fargo Municipal Airport Authority Chair Paula Ekman said the authority is asking City Commissioners to keep the 2 mill levy that funds improvements at Hector International as the airport plans a $200 million terminal expansion and a $4 million parking ramp and skywalk. The airport said stopping the levy could add an extra cost of between 15 and 31 million over the next 10 years—City Commissioners will act later on the request. KVRR
