  • Flag Family Media held a Flag Day Party on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its parking lot on Thunder Road South where Deb Sagvold sang the National Anthem and Jim Swartout—known as Jim the ND Flag Pole Guy—raised the U.S. flag to honor veterans, law enforcement and local listeners while community partners provided free food and gift cards.  AM 1100 The Flag

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 11, a state trooper stopped a car near mile marker 124 on I-29 after noticing its reflective tint and found a homemade explosive device wrapped in electrical tape that later exploded while the bomb squad worked on it—two Fargo men, Gabriel Messmer and Christopher Ringsrud-Knowles, were arrested and charged with felony possession of explosives.  WDAY Radio
  • On Friday morning, an SUV crossed the center line on County Road 26 near Northern Cass School, crashing into a car and seriously injuring a child from Hope and a Fargo woman who now faces drug charges—authorities said a 54-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries and the road remained closed for four hours.  AM 1100 The Flag

  • Susan Ray-Degges — NDSU professor and interior design program coordinator — has been named the top interior design professor of the year by the International Association of Top Professionals. She will be honored at the awards gala on December 13 in Las Vegas as the honor recognizes her decades of contributions, teaching, and research in interior design.  NDSU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dry conditions and larva treatment in May have kept Cass County’s mosquito population low so far this year, according to Cass County Vector Control in the Fargo-Moorhead area. They said while some nearby Minnesota lake areas are facing mosquito challenges, no extra spraying is planned.  WDAY Radio
