CRIME NEWS

  • The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said a child reported missing near the river in Horace was found unharmed after rescue teams from fire, water rescue and Sanford Ambulance coordinated a search that began shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday — the child returned with a family friend.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • Fargo Police confirmed that a body found dead in Oak Grove Park at the 100 block of Maple Street North near the Red River was identified as 28-year-old Aaron Hadley who did not have a permanent address—investigators are working with the coroner and examiner to determine his cause of death.  AM 1100 The Flag
  • A Fargo man, Tyreik Taylor-Roberts, pleaded Alford and was sentenced on May 27 to 5 years in jail and 5 years of probation for manslaughter after fatally shooting 25-year-old Jalab Moses outside an apartment complex in September 2024, with 249 days credited for time already served.  WDAY Radio
  • A West Fargo man convicted of murder is appealing his life sentence as his lawyer claims his trial was unfair because two minor witnesses testified remotely + the attorney filed a brief with the North Dakota Supreme Court asking for a new trial.  WDAY Radio

  • Downtown Rosewild restaurant will host a meet and greet and signing with Food Network star Molly Yeh this week as she launches her new cookbook Sweet Farm—her dinner will feature a three-course meal created with the restaurant’s local and sustainable approach, and food and beverage coordinator Kyle Bobkowski demonstrated a saffron and cardamom tiramisu dessert that ties the event together.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed new bills that require age verification on websites with explicit content and add penalties for sharing deepfake porn without consent — the laws will take effect on Aug. 1 while lawmakers also asked for a study on the harmful effects of pornography.  KVRR
  • North Dakota DOT reported the lowest traffic fatalities in over 24 years with 89 deaths recorded compared to 106 in 2023 — a drop credited to a new primary seatbelt law and reductions in impaired driving. Officials stress that drivers, passengers, and pedestrians must continue to buckle up, drive sober, and avoid distractions to further lower these numbers.  KVRR
