- ➤ The Red River Zoo broke ground for the new Red Panda Passage near the carousel, which will feature expanded outdoor habitats and indoor care spaces for all nine red pandas; the project has received support from Chord Energy + a $250,000 grant and community backing. KVRR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Fans of anime, science fiction and pop culture are at Fargo CoreCon (at the Holiday Inn near West Acres Mall) since Thursday and the event will run through Sunday. Attendees enjoy retro video games, merchant booths, and panels on space and science fiction themes. KVRR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Horace Mann Elementary School broke ground as students and staff began merging Horace Mann with Roosevelt and Madison into one unified school. The historic site, which has served the community for over 100 years, will close its doors for construction soon and reopen in fall 2028. KVRR
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Red River Zoo held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning for a new red panda facility funded by a major donation; the project will give endangered pandas a modern home and mark executive director Sally Mulvena’s final milestone as she moves to a new zoo job in Florida next month. KVRR
