- ➤ Chutikun 'Chuti' Kanjanaruch, a doctoral student in animal sciences, received the Mary McCannel Gunkelman Award on May 2 at the Harry D. McGovern Alumni Center (an honor given each year to someone who creates a friendly campus atmosphere). - ➤ Fargo Public Schools confirmed that Davies High School principal Troy Cody is stepping down to become an investment advisor at GoalQuest Financial Group in Fargo. - ➤ Today, the Audubon Society and Fargo Park District host a bird festival at Forest River Park where attendees use binoculars to spot migratory species+ including Baltimore orioles, glossy ibis, and winged warblers along the central flyway. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fargo Police and Oversight Board held their first formal meeting of 2025 after an informal brown bag session on January 15 at Gateway Commons in the Fargo Police Department building. The board discussed the possibility of changing to a citizen advisory committee, but no decision was made—City Commission will review the proposal on June 9. WDAY Radio
- ➤ Fargo Fire Chief Steve Dirksen will deliver his final annual report to the Fargo City Commission at its meeting on Monday at 5 p.m. at City Hall — outlining key department updates, and he will review new hires, retirements, planning goals — plus details from International Association of Firefighters Local 642 in 2024. - ➤ Fargo Police and Oversight Board met formally this year and held an informal brown bag session on January 15 at Gateway Commons in the police building to discuss a possible change to a citizen’s advisory committee that would allow the board to engage directly with the public.
