  • At NDSU, a research team is testing new smart tools for farmers to use water, fertilizer and pesticides only when needed—technologies that combine real-time data, remote sensing and machine learning. The work, which is supported by the USDA-ARS Food, Energy and Water Security initiative, aims to boost crop yields and improve farm sustainability.  NDSU

  • State officials declared this week Aquatic Nuisance Species Awareness Week to warn visitors about risks to public health, property and the economy—improperly drained water from boats may spread harmful species in local waterways.  WDAY Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Kelly Armstrong signed a bill that will raise the interstate speed limit from 75 to 80 mph on August 1 and increase speeding fines — a change to align more closely with neighboring states. The new limit replaces the 75 mph standard that has been in place since 2003.  KVRR
  • Governor Kelly Armstrong signed House Bill 1298 on Monday that raises speed limits on I-29 and I-94 to 80 miles per hour and increases fines for speeding—these new rules will take effect August 1.  WDAY Radio
