CRIME NEWS

  • Jeremy Jorgenson, 42 (from Hawley, Minnesota), appeared in court in Fargo for the hit-and-run that killed 61-year-old bicyclist Bernd Scholz (at NP Avenue and 10th Street North around 8 p.m. on March 12) and his bond is set at $7,500 with a court return on May 29.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Majority Leader David Hogue said lawmakers are working quickly in the final weeks of session as they reschedule bills and debate funding for transportation projects and property tax credits. Hogue explained that the Senate and House differ on using a gas tax for roads and on tax relief methods—issues they plan to address soon.  WDAY Radio
  • U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins visited NDSU on April 22 to meet with university leaders and local farmers about the upcoming farm bill and new agricultural technology. She joined a roundtable at the Peltier Complex—alongside Gov. Kelly Armstrong, Sen. John Hoeven and Rep. Julie Fedorchak—and later toured the Grand Farm Innovation Campus and American Crystal Sugar Company in Moorhead.  NDSU
  • Gov. Kelly Armstrong, U.S. Sen. John Hoeven, Rep. Julie Fedorchak and NDSU President David Cook participated in a roundtable with U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins today at NDSU’s Peltier Complex in Fargo—Rollins announced that the USDA will soon release over $340 million in disaster assistance, including more than $5 million for North Dakota to rebuild electric infrastructure damaged by severe storms and wildfires.  NDSU
