EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Dakota State University will launch the Bison Ready program this fall so all undergraduate and graduate students automatically get required textbooks, kits and digital materials for a flat rate. The program offers the Bison Complete plan at $325 per semester for undergraduates and $55 per semester for graduates while also giving students the option to buy only the materials they need.  AM 1100 The Flag

  • Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins will visit Fargo Tuesday, April 22 to meet with local producers, ranchers and commodity groups at NDSU and take part in an agriculture technology demonstration at Grand Farm—she will use the feedback to shape the farm bill and bolster North Dakota's role in precision agriculture.  WDAY Radio
  • Lawmakers have endorsed Senate Bill 2160—sponsored by Rep. Kyle Davison from Fargo—that would shift part of state health insurance premium costs onto employees; the bill will soon go to a full House vote while supporters say it will expand coverage and critics worry it may cut into retention. Public employee groups urge further study of the changes before long-term costs are set in motion.  KVRR
  • North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said Bayer may soon stop making Roundup due to ongoing lawsuits—farmers planting corn, soybeans, and sugar beets are looking for alternatives as production costs could rise. Agronomists warn that higher costs may lead to increased food prices and tougher conditions for growers in the future.  KVRR

  • Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed a bill on January 28th that bans ranked-choice and approval voting in Fargo — the system approved by voters in 2018. City officials now plan to hold elections under the new rules in June 2026.  KVRR
