- ➤ WDAY Radio starts two new local shows this week—Professional Launch with Ricot Aladin airs on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon and Rocky’s Downtown Hour airs on Fridays from 11 a.m. to noon—while it changes its midday news show to a one-hour news magazine with Ken Duffy hosting. The new programs give local listeners more news and updates on business and community issues. WDAY Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Federal Emergency Management Agency canceled over $20 million in BRIC grants for 10 projects in North Dakota, including a $7.1 million water intake in Washburn, a $7.8 million wastewater treatment in Lincoln, and a $1.9 million wastewater lagoon in Fessenden. Wells County officials said the loss is devastating—Governor Armstrong has directed state agencies to work with communities to find other funding solutions. KVRR
- ➤ Senators John Hoeven and Tim Kaine introduced a bipartisan Senate bill that would keep at least 150 genetically diverse wild horses in Theodore Roosevelt National Park's south unit. The bill also requires the Department of Interior to develop an annual management plan—ensuring the historic experience remains for future visitors. AM 1100 The Flag
- ➤ The North Dakota Senate passed House Bill 1297 by a 38-8 vote, sending it to Governor Kelly Armstrong; if enacted it will ban both approval and ranked-choice voting. Fargo, the only city using this method, may see its voting system eliminated — City Commissioner Denise Kolpack said the method is intuitive and helps more people vote — as the bill moves to the next step. - ➤ The North Dakota Senate passed House Bill 1297 (38 to 8) to ban approval and ranked choice voting in state elections, and the measure now heads to Governor Kelly Armstrong.
