CRIME NEWS

  • Minot woman Nichole Rice was found not guilty in Grand Forks County District Court for the 2007 murder of her roommate Anita Knutson—she was arrested in 2022 for the stabbing death after shifting statements from her and her parents led to renewed investigation.  KVRR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • NDSU recently received the Best On-Campus Dining Facility award at the 2025 MenuTrinfo National Allergy Awards — the honor recognized its allergen-safe dining and inclusive meal options. The award praises efforts at centers like the West Dining Center, which avoids peanut or tree nut ingredients — underscoring the university's commitment to safe campus dining.  NDSU
  • Governor Kelly Armstrong and Lieutenant Governor Michelle Strinden are supporting bills that will ban students from using personal electronic devices during school hours to help address issues like anxiety and phone addiction. The bills were heard in education committees and Armstrong said the matter is urgent and must be acted on now—rather than delayed until May 1st.  WDAY Radio
  • NDSU’s new Bison to the Bakken program received 61 student applications before the March 25 deadline and will launch a two-week, three-credit travel experience to explore the energy industry. Forty-five students will be chosen next week to travel from May 18–30 — visiting communities like Minot and Williston while receiving a $1,250 scholarship with travel and lodging costs covered.  NDSU
