ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fargo firefighters responded to a structure fire on the 2500 block of Villa Drive South on March 25 at 7:27 a.m.—no one was injured while a kitchen fire in a second-floor unit caused significant damage and displaced residents.  AM 1100 The Flag

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fargo Public Schools has a new leader as the board unanimously approved Dr. Cory Steiner’s two-year contract on Tuesday night—his contract pays $220,000 for the first year and $225,000 for the second year with a possible extension.  AM 1100 The Flag

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Dakota lawmakers are debating a bill that would raise the gas tax by 3 cents per gallon and increase electric vehicle fees—from $120 to $150—to fund a $42 million road improvement program for counties, cities and townships. Lawmakers held recent hearings as support from contractors emerged and concerns from retailers and commuters were raised.  KVRR
  • The House Judiciary Committee held a nearly three-hour hearing on Senate Bill 2128—the truth-in-sentencing bill that would make violent offenders, drug traffickers and sex offenders serve at least 50 percent of their sentence before parole—today but took no action. Department of Corrections Director Colby Braun said the bill would remove incentives for rehabilitation while Attorney General Drew Wrigley said it is needed for public safety.  WDAY Radio
