EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NDSU’s Bison to the Bakken program is accepting applications for a travel experience starting Aug. 15 that explores western North Dakota and includes field trips near Fargo on Sept. 4, Sept. 18, and Oct. 9. Apply by March 31 — travel and lodging are covered while students pay for one meal. NDSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mandan will begin replacing lead and galvanized water pipes this summer using a state revolving fund and federal support, and engineers will survey neighborhoods to test unknown lines. They estimate around 200 pipes may need work (costs run about $10,000 per line). KVRR
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Moorhead homeowners may apply for low-interest home improvement loans via a partnership with Gate City Bank — the program funds repairs, energy upgrades, or general improvements if the home is valued at $275,000 or less, and applications are accepted through Oct. 31. KVRR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Stanley Township oppose a rezoning plan to allow a ready mix concrete plant near farms and houses, citing concerns over dust, noise, and truck traffic. The landowner—also the township board chair—seeks a change to light industrial zoning, and the board will discuss the matter today at 8 p.m. at Horace Fire Hall. KVRR
