COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2027 Fargo AirSho on Aug. 21 & 22, 2027 at Hector International Airport; the event marks the 80th Anniversary of the ND Air National Guard’s 119th Wing and organizers will announce further details throughout 2026 and 2027.  KVRR
  • Wags n Whiskers is launching a Veterinary Relief Fund to help clinics secure emergency funds for pet care in Minnesota and North Dakota. The group will hold a silent auction at the Moorhead American Legion on Sunday, May 3 from 1 to 3 to kick off its fundraising efforts.  KVRR
  • Moorhead Public Library staff have begun moving 50,000 books, magazines, and movies to a new 48,000 sqft building (featuring an indoor playground, walking track, and study rooms) scheduled to open early April while the old location remains open.  KVRR
  • The City of Fargo revealed 10 finalists in its Name a Garbage Truck contest, and residents can vote online for their favorite name until Sunday, March 15 at 11:59 p.m. (Top three names will appear on city trucks and winners earn Fargo gear plus a video feature.)  KVRR

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Happy Together Tour will stop at Bluestem Amphitheater in Moorhead in September, featuring artists like The Association and Ron Dante. A special online presale begins Thursday and tickets cost between $49 and $79.75 plus fees.  KVRR

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Bank of North Dakota will present its Roughrider Coin details to the Industrial Commission on March 25, and a review later this month will decide if the state’s first stablecoin launches a pilot program with local banks in September.  KVRR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Game and Fish Department reminds anglers that all unoccupied fish houses must be removed from every water body by Mar. 15—fish houses can be used after that date if cleared daily and cleanup of nearby trash is encouraged.  KVRR

SPORTS NEWS

  • North Dakota State announced that the 2026 Bison football schedule will feature one FCS game, three nonconference games and eight Mountain West contests, starting with Jacksonville State on Aug. 29 and ending with San Jose State on Nov. 28.  KVRR
  • The North Dakota Horse Park will host Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred races starting Friday, July 10—a free t-shirt giveaway for the first 500 visitors—and continue across eight live racing days until Sunday, Aug. 2; admission is $5 for adults—with $1 on closing day—and free for children.  KVRR
  • Sen. Kupec praised the Moorhead Spuds Boys Hockey after they recovered from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 in double overtime against Minnetonka over the weekend, adding that even cupcakes with black + orange sprinkles and a nod to their potato mascot marked the historic comeback.  KVRR
