  • Fargo Public Library celebrates its 125th anniversary with three limited-edition library card designs created by local artists (kids, teens, and adults) available today at all branches; residents can apply for a new card or update their existing card while supplies last.  AM 1100 The Flag

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Charlie’s Place, a south Fargo coffee shop employing people with intellectual disabilities, announced it will close this month due to rising expenses. It is planning to stay open through the first two weeks of January — Art and Soul Studios in the same building will remain open for creative activities.  KVRR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Dakota Department of Public Instruction received a $10 million grant from the U.S. Education Department's Education Innovation and Research Program, and 65% of the awards will support rural projects (part of an effort to boost literacy statewide).  AM 1100 The Flag
  • The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction will receive a $10M award from the Education Innovation and Research Program to support rural education and boost literacy. Assistant Secretary Baesler said 65% of the 24 awards will aid projects statewide.  WDAY Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • The West Fargo Fire Department won this year’s Battle of the Badges Blood Drive by donating 65 units in a three-day contest against the Police Department’s 62 units. The event took place earlier this week in partnership with Vitalant (the sole provider for 68 hospitals).  WDAY Radio

  • MSUM women's basketball head coach Karla Nelson said the team is returning from Christmas break and is focusing on locking down its defense for an upcoming game at Crookston this weekend.  WDAY Radio
